Ayurveda, a system of alternative medicine originated in India which has been present for around 5000 years is the direct descendant of yoga, a way of life! The root cause of big life-threatening diseases and syndromes is our LIFESTYLE. Holistic Health and Longer Life start when we decide to follow the rules of nature and listen to our bodies.

In an age when everyone is trying and following crash diets and fad diets like keto diet, the GM Diet, we often lose health balance and the rhythm of nature i.e the cycle of day and night, changing seasons and time of day.

Here are 5 tips for you to be aligned with the needs of your body for weight loss:

1) MORNING SIP:

First thing in the morning have lemon and honey with a glass of lukewarm water. Don’t skip the honey thinking of it as sugar, it is essential to give you a boost and detox the entire digestive system.

2) MEDITATION:

The one thing that doesn’t stop throughout the day is our mind so set aside 5-10 minutes of relaxation and peace for oxygen to reach your brain and have a clearer approach to life. This also helps to calm your nerves while taking care of anxiety and mental rush.

3) FOOD:

In Ayurveda, six tastes are prominently recognized: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. Have three home cooked meals in a day with 2 snack fruits and don’t forget to have unprocessed, natural in-season produce.

4) SLEEP:

In ancient times when there were no clocks, people used to go bed with sunset and rise with the sunrise. According to science, this ritual and habit had a major hormone-balancing effect on our body and the working of our mind. Make sure to have a good sleep for around 7-8 hours every day!

5) EXERCISE:

According to Ayurveda, if you follow all the above tips and guidelines then a short walk after every meal for 10-20 minutes would be enough and 1 hour in the evenings or early mornings would be ideal.
